Contests are a great way to work on your writing skills. Some contests give feed back while others may use your entry in their magazine at a later date even if you did not win the contest you may still get published.

WOW women on Writing winter contest is now open. The entry fee is $10 dollars and for another $10 you can get a critique. I did this and was very satisfied with the feedback I received.
