Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!
Posting: The first Wednesday of every month is officially Insecure Writer’s Support Group day. Post your thoughts on your own blog. Talk about your doubts and the fears you have conquered. Discuss your struggles and triumphs. Offer a word of encouragement for others who are struggling. Visit others in the group and connect with your fellow writer - aim for a dozen new people each time. Be sure to link to this page and display the badge in your post.

You've written your story/article, revised it, had it critiqued within an inch of it's word count.
Now you have sent your baby out and are waiting for a response.
And waiting. And waiting.
Things to do while you wait:
1. Go through your idea notebook or folder. Don't have one? Start one.
2.Research for next project. You can kill a lot of time doing this.
3. Go for long walks, commune with nature.
4. Volunteer at the library, the school, church.
5. Eat chocolate.
6. Start new project.
7. Research other markets to send story to if you haven't already done this.
The key is to stay busy. Before you know it you will get your response back. Be prepared if it is rejected to send it out again.

Great tips! It's important to stay busy and eat chocolate. I'm currently waiting to hear back about a series. Too bad there's no more chocolate in the house!
Hi Sheila, nice to meet another MG writer. I agree that the waiting for a reply on our manuscript can be killing, but keeping one's self busy (writing another book) is the smart thing to do.
Forgot to tell you that I will surely be sending writers who want their books to be reviewed your way :)
Good advice. It’s especially important to stay busy now that so many publishers (and agents) go the no response means no route. If you sat around and waited, you might never accomplish anything!

It doesn't get easier once you're published. I hear nothing for months, then sell a book. Or get a request for revisions. Or get the last pass pages. You never know what's coming next...or when it's coming! The only way to NOT go crazy is to just write something else.
I've only had to wait on short story submissions at this point, but I always get to work on something else once I've sent a piece out. Gotta' keep it going!
